SPANISHTOWN CREEK MURALS - OUR CURRENT NEIGHBORHOOD PROJECT

The Hyde Park Spanishtown Creek Civic Association is working with the city Arts and Cultural Department, a local sponsor, and PEP Rally muralists to develop a series of murals at the entrance to Spanishtown Creek.

The goal is to help beautify the cement structures and highlight the historical significance of Spanishtown Creek.

The murals will be paid for by a local city sponsor and developed by one of the city’s most respected mural companies, PEP Rally. Once done, the murals will form a centerpiece for the Spanishtown Creek neighborhood. Mural completion is expected to be by the end of 2025.

A LARGE, COMMERCIAL REZONING PROPOSED FOR SPANISHTOWN CREEK'S HISTORIC DISTRICT

REZ-25-0000048 - Proposed zoning change for the neighborhood currently zoned residential with a 35-foot height restriction. Developers want a commercial zoning and land use for the proposed 104-foot Magnolia Court Hotel and Condos that includes:

  • 122 hotel rooms
  • 29 townhomes/condominiums
  • a 150-seat fine dining restaurant
  • a 20-30 seat bistro with “take-out” food
  • a 271 car parking garage
  • a 4,000 sq.ft. ballroom/events hall
  • a fitness gym
  • health spa
  • rooftop pools

A TENTATIVE vote is set July 24th before Tampa City Council to REZONE the historic HPSCCA residential neighborhood entire block to all commercial property that more than doubles the density and obiterates the height restrictions.
